Fire Related Issues - Insurance Policy Problem

SBAOR has created this Blog for members to share information regarding Gap Fire related issues. The most notable at the moment seems to be the difficulty in getting fire insurance policies written on some properties near the fire area. We will leave the Blog open for the next 30 days or so, and if it turns into more we'll leave it open indefinitely. Please use it to communicate with your fellow REALTORS®.

Great idea, guys. Thanks for being proactive! I don't have this problem yet, but I'll be sure to check out this blog if I do.

I am closing an escrow in Goleta next week. Located in the evacuation area, north of Cathedral Oaks and west of Fairview.

Andy Brownwood's agency is providing regular homeowners.

First American Title says they have an insurer willing to write policies also.

Farmers Ins. said they will not write any insurance in Zip code 93111 or 93117 and informed me that no one else can either.
I was referred to Mark Tomm at Tomm and Buck Ins 683-0096 and they will write the fire and homeowner's insurance with no problem.

Contact Gracie Newman at Hub international in S.B. AIG is writing and has a fleet of their own fire trucks. They sprayed fire retardant on my property last Tuesday and I am in Montecito. AIG did not lose many homes in San Diago last year because of their proactive prevention measures.

I just talked to Dave McGrath at Liberty Mutual, and they are getting approval to write some policies. He's at 805-898-2637.
